One of the smallest types of communication devices are two way radios. These compact devices were created with the user in mind, providing simple controls and a lot of convenience. Anything less than that will not sit well with users who need to move around light while staying in line with other parties.

But there are different types and models of two way radios serving different purposes. If you need it for private use or for small companies, they can be bought from electrical component shops. For industrial employment, two way radios are more expensive and are made for heavy usage.

Two way radios for home usage generally belong to lower end models. These are lighter, very affordable and have limited range which restricts them to being used in very close proximity to the central receiver. Other groups who might benefit from lower end models are private security groups whose clients are generally office buildings or in less important areas.

Workers in the construction industry turn to higher end models. These two way radios have a wider range that enables different parties to communicate even if they are several levels high off the ground. The greater sensitivity is required since the individuals work in areas that could stretch over several hectares in size.

There are also other features that heavy industries require in their communication devices. Normal two way radios have only one channel, but the ones used by construction and other similar industries have multiple channels. This allows different parties within a single area to speak to each other at any one time.

You also get what you pay for as with most electrical products. The cheaper off the shelf models may be suitable and most cost effective for small companies and families. But they generally do not last for a long time and can suffer from breakdowns or irregular performances.

The construction, manufacturing and other similar industries depend on radios that need to provide maximum performance as well as heavy usage. They are therefore much more costly. But the tradeoff is the increased reliability since there might be situations whereby a worker's life could depend on them.

While the main benefit of two way radios is to allow two or more parties to communicate with one another, other factors have to be kept in mind when deciding which ones to purchase and use. Private families and small to medium enterprises might wish to turn to the more expensive models, but it might not necessarily be practical enough. Heavy industries must not try to save costs and use less reliable radios, otherwise issues like safety and performance will be affected.
